Ummmm....sorry, blog, for neglecting you

Did you know that people still get scarlet fever??

Well, they do!  And Ben has it!  Along with strep and an asthma flare-up.

Present

Before I tell you about all the things I left out in 2009, here is what the first 10 days of 2010 have blessed us with:

1) Ella was diagnosed with pneumonia. The poor girl was sick, sick, sick

2) We enjoyed some playtime in the snow!

3) Matt started to grow a beard, but than gave up

4) The kids went to the movie theater for the first time with Uncle Todd and Uncle Jeff to see "The Princess and the Frog". (Ella had to wear a tutu, of course! She was SO excited!)

5) Ella decided to showcase her artistic talents by using permanent markers to color on the newly painted family room walls. (she obviously didn't learn her lesson because the next day she colored with the same marker to color on the kitchen counter! Time to get rid of all Sharpies!!)

And we would like to wish a Happy Birthday today to our Gigi!!! I love you mom! You are so beautiful!

2010 - Operation Home Decoration

We moved into this house over two years ago, and other than painting the kids rooms, have yet to do any decorating. Ella was born within a week of moving into this house so we have been busy raising 2 kids and working - the house has not been a top priorty.... UNTIL NOW!

I have declared 2010 to be....

OPERATION HOME DECORATION!

Project #1 - Master Closet

(Below are the "Before" pictures. I am so embarressed. I can't believe I am actually posting these!)

And now the "After" pictures!!

(this was Matt's birthday present from his parents - ELFA closet design!) I LOVE it!!

Project #2 - Painting!

It really has taken me FOREVER to pick out paint colors! Deciding on colors for an entire house is STRESSFUL! But thanks to the help of Stephanie Fissel and Beth Smith (and Restoration Hardware paint colors!) we have now been able to start!

Room #1 - Family Room (color - RH Cappuccino, but color-matched by Sherwin Williams)

There is still more work to be done in the family room (paint the trim/baseboards, paint the stairway railing, hang curtains, etc), but Matt and his dad did an amazing job with the walls!

Room #2 - Kitchen (RH Saffron, color matched by Sherwin Williams)

There are only the before pics...

I will have a LOT more Operation Home Decoration pics as we finish projects! I am SO excited!!

8 Resolutions Every Mom Should Make

  1. I will embrace the fact that I am not perfect

  2. I will get down on the floor and play with my children every day

  3. I will take care of my body

  4. I will learn to love the chaos

  5. I will make family dinner a priority

  6. I will focus a little more on my marriage

  7. I will make time for my friends

  8. I will remind myself daily that time with my children is precious

I wish I remember where this came from, but I found it when I was cleaning my closet yesterday, and I just LOVE it! I plan to embrace this new year! (and new decade!)

I have a 9th resolution to add for 2010..... to blog more! (because, boy, did I get an earful from my family over the holidays about my lack of blogging!)

In the next week or so I will try and catch up on what I missed blogging about from Sept-Dec 2009!

We plan on having a rockin' 2010!!
